What if you throw a party, but do not only want to drink and talk? Then do what the students of E.S.T.V. Doppio, a student theatre association in Eindhoven, did. Play QRQuest.
More than a regular party
This student association throws parties regularly. But this time they wanted to do it differently. Some members were new and did not know the others. And they did not want to have a regular party of drinking and talking.
What they needed was something to foster connections and activate the party goers.
Activating the attendees
That is when they discovered QRQuest. One of the members created a quest with 15 assignments. The theme of the party was ‘bugs’. So several members would come dressed as a bug. Think bee, ant, and stick animal.
Assignments
The assignments were in line with the theme. Some examples:
Do the stick bug! Act like a stick bug (wandelende tak) in a group of unsuspecting insects (people).
Quick! Hide in the bush! Some tiny humans have spotted you and want to put you in a see through cage. Take a picture where it will take a while for us to see where you are.
Are you the real queen bee? Have two people carry you around like the queen that you are. Let someone take a picture of it with your camera.
Become an ant colony. Take a picture with at least 5 people in it acting as ants.

Having a great time
In the end 94 pictures and videos were submitted and a winner was chosen. Everyone had a great time and the party was a huge success. New members were easily adopted into the group and everyone made an active contribution to the party. As an extra, the group now has a gallery of photos and videos to savor.
