What I did to make my party more fun (a party idea)

How can you make your party more fun

I wanted to organise a party, together with my daughter. Because we are of different generations and we would both invite our friends, we thought that would cause a problem.

Drinks we had enough and to everyone’s taste. The dance floor was arranged and the playlist had something for everyone. The firepit and lounge set outside. Drinking and dancing inside.

Two groups

If we were not going to do anything special, this party would go as any other party. Guests would cling together in groups. If you don’t know people, you are hesitant to talk to them. Which makes you stay with the group you know. Still very nice for the guests, but not what we wanted.

Guests connect

Often you see people busy on their mobile phone. Not very helpful for a festive mood. So we thought: what if we are going to use that mobile phone for something else. And what if we are going to do it in such a way that guests are stimulated to connect with others. To talk to people they do not know.

Active participation

It would be even more fun if guests would actively participate. And that is how QRQuest was born. We have come up with 11 assignments. Every assignment gets a QR code. We have taped the QR codes throughout our party area. If you find and scan a code, you are taken to a web page with the assignment.

To give you a few examples of assignments:

  • Sit on someone’s lap and make a selfie
  • Make a snack for someone you don’t know and make a picture of the eating
  • Make a nice picture of the party
  • Find someone with the same color shirt, trousers, or shoes and make a photo of the two of you
  • Find someone you don’t know. Play rock, paper, scissors 3 times. The loser gets a drink for the winner. Let someone make a video of you two playing.

Photos and videos as memory

The nice thing about QRQuest is that the photos and videos you make, are automatically stored in an online gallery. At the end of the party you have a nice memory. You can share the gallery with everyone by sending them the link to it.

Winning a prize

Because we did not know if our guests would do the assignments, we announced a prize. The names of everyone who had completed the 11 assignments, would be put into a hat. At the end of the evening we drew a winner. We gave away a bottle of champagne.

QRQuest is there for you too

Our guests were very enthusiastic. We also noticed immediate energy at the beginning of the party.

We like you to have that experience too. That is why we developed QRQuest into a system that can be used by everyone.

Go have a look yourself. Make a free demo quest and try it yourself:

No thanks. I do not need a free version.
